How to get your hands on a global problem?

Sustainability is a HUGE subject. Yet, it’s very hard to make it visible in everyday life…

For a series of events around sustainability, BNO (Association of Dutch Designers) was in need of visuals that embody sustainability. Instead of trying to capture the complexity of it all, we decided to take a familiar phrase very literally: doing something for the planet.

So we made the planet physical. Big enough to be impossible to ignore, but small enough to actually do something with. Across six images and videos, the Earth is loved, helped, fixed up and celebrated.

Because sustainability is serious, doesn’t mean everything about it has to be serious.

By turning an abstract global issue into something you can hold in your hands, the series creates a different way of relating to it: more immediate, more human, and with a little more room to act. Because sustainability is something we seriously need to act on. That doesn’t mean everything about it has to be serious.
